(Mountain) Pygmy Owl Glaucidium gnoma gnoma.

This was one of several 'hoped-for' birds during a long weekend in South-eastern Arizona. We discovered it quietly 'tooting' with an unidentified lizard prey item in its talons as we hiked down to the Upper parking lot in the fabulous Madera Canyon. What a treat!
