| Willow/Alder Flycatcher
- 1, stayed very low in willows near trail entrance, only 1 - 2 feet
above ground level. I saw this bird reasonably well but only got a
couple of very poor quality images. I never heard it call so couldn't
really say whether it's a Willow or Alder Flycatcher. Either species
would be rather late in Western Mass on this date and I'm quite happy
that the bird wasn't a Least Flycatcher due to the size, rather heavy
bill (lower mandible appeared mostly orange in the field) and medium-longish primary extension. An eye ring was notable, but not
quite bold as Least Flycatcher and the bird infrequently flicked its
tail upward.
Of course, feedback and comments are welcome;
