Rochester WWTP, NH, December 22nd, 2004. Nelson’s Gull, Larus hyperboreus x Larus smithsonianus All flight images were taken using a Nikon Coolpix 995 through Leica 10x42 binoculars.

Nelson’s Gull first-winter, Larus hyperboreus x Larus smithsonianus, amongst adult American Herring Gulls Larus smithsonianus. This is probably the same bird that was discovered by Mike Harvey on December 16th. Five cropped flight images are included below showing an interesting mix of Glaucous and Herring like characters.
