October 11th, 2005. Rereat Meadows, Brattleboro, VT.
Bonaparte's Gull Larus philadelphia.
Perhaps connected to the inland movement of small gulls in the CT River Valley, this Bonaparte's Gull put in a very brief appearance on the Retreat Meadows at 3pm.  It was the only gull present on the water, though a few American Herring and Ring-billed Gulls migrated overhead. The only other place that I could recall seeing Bonaparte's Gull inland in New England was on Lake Champlain VT, in October 2004.
Taken using Canon Powershot A-95 through Leica 10x42 binoculars.
