Boreal Chickadee Poecile hudsonica.
Wonderful views of this charming Boreal Chickadee visiting a yard in the suburbs of Orange. Although the bird was visiting a suet feeder, it could easily be seen and heard in the Blue Spruce trees lining Sandrah Drive. Record numbers of Black-capped Chickadees were recorded on the Sturbridge CBC on Wednesday, so it's possible, indeed likely, that this Boreal Chickadee is associated with the presence of above average numbers of Black-capped Chickadees in WMA. It could be worth checking for more Boreal Chickadees in our local area whilst following the fortunes of Black-capped Chickadee numbers on the forthcoming CBCs.
Taken using Canon Powershot A-95 through Swarovski telescope.
