Lapland Longspur Calacrius lapponicus. (2).
From Winsor Dam (07:45 - 09:15hrs);

BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE - 1 adult for about 10 minutes from 08:00hrs.

LAPLAND LONGSPUR- 2, seen and heard again along the dam wall with Savannah Sparrows and American Pipits. Perched up for longer periods today, though the photos are poor to due pouring rain. The birds were less skittish possibly due to less (actually zero) people excercising along the dam wall.


Other birds of interest;

Heavy rain all the time, NE breeze.
Common Loon - 3
Bald Eagle -1 adult.
Wild Turkey - 19

Small numbers of American Pipits and Savannah Sparrows.

Again no obvious signs of any scoters.


Oxbow Marina, Northampton.

BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE  - 7 adults, still showing very well (10:00 - 11:00hrs) on the now rapidly draining flooded soccer field. Most other gulls had departed, with only a handful of Ring-bills and smiths.

Amercian Kestrel -2
Pectoral Sandpiper - 2
Spotted Sandpiper - 1
American Pipit - 45+
Savannah Sparrow - 30+.


Hampshire Mall, Hadley -

Peregrine - 1 juvenile tundrius (below) sweeping through a flock of American Pipits. A different bird to that at the same location on Oct 10th). Even in bad light at distance note the prominant white cheek.



White-crowned Sparrow
- 1 (first-winter).

Small numbers of Canada Geese and American Pipits.

This evening there were also about 5 'Eastern' Palm Warblers near Larch Hill, Amherst.
