December 11th, 2005. Plum Island, MA.
Snowy Owl Nyctea scandiaca.
Certainly one of the attractions of a winter trip to Plum Island. This bird was rather distant, roosting out in the salt marshes beyond the salt pans. Despite the distance, I really enjoyed the views of the bird blending perfectly into its chosen resting place.
Taken using Canon Powershot A-95 through Swarovski telescope.

Somewhere out there is a resting Snowy Owl.

Zooming in a little, the bird is just about in the center of the shot.
