January 15th 2007. Turner's Falls Power Canal, MA.
Giant Canada Goose, Snow Geese (2), Lesser black-backed (2) and Nelson's Gulls.

A really filthy evening for birding at Turner's Falls, with heavy rain and thickening gloom throughout making for difficult viewing conditions and even worse for digiscoping. Most birds arrived after 3pm and the canal was
nearly devoid of birds before that.

Giant Canada Goose B.c. maxima (center). Very large, long necked and pale breasted.

Giant Canada Goose B.c. maxima. Shows extensive white cheek with white bleeding into upper part of black neck-sock. Note prominent white spot on forehead easily visible, even in extremely dull conditions.

Snow Geese - adults.
