January 30th 2007.  Turner's Falls Power Canal, MA.
Unidentified Gull. Larus sp. 1st cycle.

Mark Taylor and I watched this bird on January 30th, which I'd first seen on the power canal the previous day. First impressions were quite Thayer's like, but I'm still wondering if it may be a smallish, dark smithsonianus x hyperboreus hybrid - Nelson's Gull?  To date (February 5th), I've received two independent opinions suggesting that this bird may be a Thayer's Gull after all.
