May 9th, 2007. Mt. Tom State Reservation, MA.
Worm-eating Warblers Helmitheros vermirova. 11 singing males.

The slopes of lower Mt. Tom were full of the sounds of singing Worm-eating Warblers today. With the trees still coming into leaf, this was a good time to visit but they were still quite difficult to actually see. Of the 11 heard singing, I only managed to get good views of three. All of those birds remained high in the tops, sometimes feeding with other warblers such as Black-throated Green. Other good birds on Mt. Tom today; 5 Great Crested Flycatchers, 2 Louisiana Waterthrushes, and 4 Yellow-throated Vireos.

Images taken using Canon Powershot A540 through Swarovski HD telescope.

This, and the three shots above, relate to the third of three bird actually seen.

The second of three seen.

The first bird of the morning. Remained high up and against the light.
