October 26th 2006. South Quabbin, MA. Red-necked Grebes, White-winged Scoter, American Pipit, Snow Bunting. At South Quabbin today, seen from Winsor Dam, 2 Red-necked Grebes and a female White-winged Scoter, both relatively close into the dam. On the dam wall itself, a nice male Snow Bunting, my first of the season, plus about 8 each of American Pipit and Savannah Sparrow, and a single yellow Palm Warbler. Also, 6 Hermit Thrushes scattered about Quabbin Park. A single Red-shouldered Hawk moving south-west was the only obvious migrant raptor though I had about 8 Red-tails throughout the park. 1 Common Loon at Goodnough Dike.
