Arcadia Meadows, Northampton, MA. October 6th, 2006.

White-crowned Sparrow Zonotrichia leucophrys leucophrys (7, 2 adults and 5 immatures).
An excellent flock of seven birds, probably the largest single flock that I've seen in New England.
All of the birds looked like the expected NE form Z. l.
leucophrys with the adults being absolute stunners.

Image taken using Canon Powershot A540 through Swarovski telescope.

Adult and first-winter.

Two fine adults.

First-winter with fairly plain lores but showing a weak line in front of the eye.

Another first-winter, this time showing a well marked line between the bill and eye, typical of Z. l. leucophrys
