December 4tth 2006. Turner's Falls, MA. Snow Goose. Anser caerulescens (1). What a nice surprise to find this first-winter Snow Goose in amongst c.1,000 Canada Geese on the power canal at Turner's Falls. The female Barrow's Goldeneye was again present with Common Goldeneyes and showing quite well. At Barton Cove a further 500 Canada Geese were present along with 9 Ring-necked Ducks and a tricky scaup which I deduced to be Lesser based on the upperwing pattern. Perhaps of interest, a Snow Goose also showed up on the power canal in the first week of December last year. That bird was an adult.
