October 27th 2006. Hadley, MA. Vesper Sparrow, Red-tailed Hawk, Northern Harrier and American Pipit. Spent much of the morning in the Hadley Honey Pot and around the Hadley transfer station. Still good numbers of passerines around but notable reductions in Ruby-crowned Kinglets (2), Swamp Sparrows (2), White-crowned Sparrows (0) and Lincoln’ s Sparrows (0). Snow Buntings appear to have arrived all over New England today judging by reports on the internet, and this morning produced 35 birds in the Honey Pot. Also had my first American Tree Sparrows (4) of the fall. There was an interesting westerly movement of Canada Geese in mid-morning totaling 825 birds over the course of one hour. Also of note, 1 Red-shouldered Hawk, 2 Northern Harriers, 120 Savannah Sparrows, 1 Vesper Sparrow, a yellow Palm Warbler, Hermit Thrush, 20 Eastern Bluebirds, and 2 Hooded Mergansers on the Connecticut River. Images taken using Canon Powershot A540 through Swarovski HD Telescope. |
