October 28th 2007. Turner's Falls Power Canal, Franklin Co., MA.
Cackling Goose Branta hutchinsii, plus Northern Pintail and Red-breasted Merganser.

Presumably the same Cackling Goose from October 22nd, relocated amongst 300 or so Canada Geese. One other very small goose of interest but certainly not Cackling on bill shape. I will follow-up on this bird if the images provide enough information. A nice female/first-winter Northern Pintail and a female/first-winter Red-breasted Merganser on the canal as well. Also in the area, a Common Redpoll with several American Goldfinches, and five Common Ravens playing on the wind over Mount Toby.

Images taken using Canon Powershot A540 through Swarovski HD telescope.
