June 10th, 2005. Quabbin Reservoir area, MA.
This morning we headed south from Keene to the Quabbin wilderness area in
Massachusetts where Susannah has survey work planned for the summer. We spent some time
scouting sites at Gate 40 and Gate 29, and enjoyed a relatively cool morning though the mosquitoes
were quite bothersome at times.

As expected in late spring, the area was full of bird song with notable species including
Northern Parula (3 from Gate 29), Prairie Warbler (2 from Gate 40, 5 from Gate 29),
Blackburnian Warbler ( 2 from Gate 29), Blue-winged Warbler (2 from Gate 40), and
Yellow-throated Vireo (1 from Gate 29).
