July 5th, 2005. Virginia Rail, Sprague Road, Richmond, NH.
I
enjoyed doing some early morning point counts from a nice wetland site
in Richmond. Some good birds in the area included 2-3 Virginia Rails,
2-3 Black-billed Cuckoos, and several Broad-winged Hawks, Alder
Flycatchers, and a Ruffed Grouse. Good numbers of Black-throated Blue
Warblers and Winter Wrens were also present in the surrounding
woodlands. A ‘monster’ Snapping Turtle walked across Sprague Road as we
drove out from the site.
