Bi-colored Blackbird Agelaius phoeniceus
The males of this California form of Red-winged Blackbird are pretty distinctive when seen well in good light. The matt black of the plumage is a little different from the glossy black of Red-winged Blackbird and the median coverts are black, rather than yellowish.
