Blue Grosbeak Guiraca caerula, first-winter.
We discovered an immature Blue Grosbeak by the road at the north end of the Salton Sea, a species which we don’t record every year in California. It was the precursor to a very good day which included good numbers of Yellow-footed Gulls, a Ruff and a Franklin’s Gull amongst many others.
