September 17th, 2005. Salton Sea, Imperial County, CA.
Franklin's Gull Philomachus pugnax, first summer.
We don't find this species every year in California. This immature bird discovered with a couple of Laughing Gulls was just one element to a top notch day by the Salton Sea.
Images taken using Canon Powershot A-95 through Swarovski telescope.

Franklin's Gull - the left most bird preening in all three shots.
