All of these images were taken during the Birdfinders tour of Texas during April 9th - 23rd, 2006. More images will be added soon.
All images were taken using a Canon Powershot A-95 digital camera with a Swarovski HD telescope or Leica Ultravid  8 x 42 binoculars.

Black-whiskered Vireo, Smith Oaks Sanctuary, High Island, TX. April 22nd '06. A rare but apparently increasing visitor to the TX Gulf Coast. The Handbook of Texas Birds (TOS, 2004), lists only 19 documented records for the state, though at least three have been reported so far this spring.

Eastern Screech Owl, Ulvade Co., TX. April 17th '06. Very close bird, this shot being taken through 8x42 binoculars.





Greater Flamingo, of the Caribbean form (P.r.ruber), Aransas Bay, off Fulton, TX. April 10th '06. This bird was banded as a youngster in the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico and had been present in the bay since November 2005.
