February 10th 2006. Meeting House Road/Bridge Lane, Enfield, CT. Greater White-fronted Goose Anser albifrons.(2) Adult shown here. Nick Bonomo kindly informed us about the geese feeding at this location. The flock included two Greater White-fronted Geese and a Richardson's Cackling Goose. The White-fronts appeared to show at least some characteristics of the Greenland form A. a. flavirostris but after doing a little background reading, it would appear that the identification of the different forms isn't always straight forward. The size differences between the Canada Geese in this shot are worth noting, especially the difference between the large bird behind the White-front, and the smaller darker bird to the lower right of the image.
