Mew Gull ( left of center) with Ring-billed Gulls. When sleeping appeared as large and bulky as any Ring-billed Gull
Note the concentration of blotchy spots on the nape, one of the better features for finding the bird when it was resting.

Above and below - several poor quality flight shots. The underwing, as shown below,
often looked very dark, sometimes recalling Laughing Gull.
